The nominees for the 83rd Annual Academy Awards are out! 2010 was a year that saw the return of familiar faces (Jeff Bridges, Danny Boyle),  the reunion of star powered teams (David O. Russell and Mark Wahlberg, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen),  and bold performances from young talent  (the Social Network’s Jesse Eisenberg, True Grit’s Hailie Steinfeld).  The nominees include offerings from iconic directors who have fed our imaginations with stunning visuals and richly developed stories.  Congratulations to everyone who worked hard to produce these excellent films and invites everyone to relive some of their best moments!

Black Swan Darren Aronofsky directs Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis and Vincent Cassel in a psychological thriller that explores a young woman’s devotion to her art and the darkness that consumes her as she pursues perfection.

The Fighter David O. Russell and Mark Wahlberg team up for their third time (Three Kings, I <3 Huckabees) to deliver the underdog story of a working class boxer coached to prominence by trouble his half-brother, played by Christian Bale.

Inception Christopher Nolan (Memento, The Dark Knight) takes us on a reality bending journey into a world of dreams and deception.  Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page, Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy (widely rumored to be appearing in 2012’s The Dark Knight Rises) the film grossed $21 million on its opening day and went on to take over $800 million at the box office.

The “Bah Humbug!” Holiday Movie List

Feeling like a Grinch lately? Do sleigh bells jingling give you a splitting headache? Do the words “Bah, Humbug!” race to your lips after a long day at the mall?

If you answered “Yes” to any of those questions, we’ve got a sackful of holiday films to show you how much worse things could be.  Enjoy!  Errr, ‘Bah Humbug!”

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993) Producer Tim Burton subverts every notion of a traditional Christmas in this charming tale of the Pumpkin King’s attempt to hijack Father Christmas. Chris Sarandon and Danny Elfman teamed up on the voice and singing for the skeletal protagonist, Jack Skellington. The look of each character is iconic Tim Burton, and the stop-motion styling of the crew of Halloween-themed minions makes for many memorable moments. Gremlins Gremlins (1984) Steven Spielberg produced this black comedy set in the holiday season. Chaos ensues when a struggling inventor breaks the three rules for keeping Mogwai (gremlins): never expose them to light, never get them wet, and never feed them after midnight! Zach Galligan and Phoebe Cates star as the teenagers who try to contain the chaos. ‘Mogwai’ means “evil spirit” or “devil” in Cantonese, but we’re guessing your spirits will be lifted by the end of this movie. A Charlie Brown Christmas A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) Charlie Brown sets out to direct his school nativity and keep the spirit of Christmas alive in the face of a wave of commercialization. Snoopy, Lucy, Linus and the rest of the Peanuts gang try to come to terms with the meaning of the holiday with a little help from the saddest Christmas tree ..read more
