Tim McGraw is popping up everywhere these days.  He’s got a new album out, ‘Number One Hits”, a collection of his #1 singles.  He’s  in a new movie with Gwyneth Paltrow called ‘Country Strong’ that opens  on Wednesday, December 22nd.  And he’s been ranked as the #1 country artist in the 2010 Harris Poll of America’s Favorite Musical Act.

Not only that, he’s won three GRAMMY® Awards, 14 Academy of Country Music Awards, 11 Country Music Association Awards, 10 American Music Awards, three People’s Choice Awards and numerous other honors. With 7.8 million spins at radio, McGraw was the most-played artist of the past decade.

1994 From Tim’s second album, ‘Not A Moment Too Soon”,  “Indian Outlaw” was Tim’s first top ten single on the charts.  Controversial, but a hit with live audiences.

1995 Five weeks at number one on the charts, from the 3 million selling album “All I Want”, Tim’s third album.

1997 The first of four singles from the 1997 album “Everywhere”, this one went to the top of the country charts.

1998 Another chart topper from the album “Everywhere” which won Album of the Year from the Country Music Association and spent 42 weeks on the Billboard charts.

2001 From the  album “Set This Circus Down”, this single was yet another of Tim’s number one charted songs.

To celebrate Tim McGraw’s amazing career, we’ve compiled our own collection of of Tim McGraw’s music videos.  Seems like just yesterday we were checking out the “Angel Boy” and imploring him “Don’t Take The Girl” because “The Cowboy In Me” just wants to stay ” Down on The Farm”.  Enjoy!

Congratulations Tim!

Judging chaos at American Idol

Steven TylerSimon Cowell won’t be the only judge not returning to American Idol. Ellen DeGeneres has quit American Idol while Fox has fired Kara DioGuardi. But don’t worry Idol fans the big lips of rock and roll is here to save the day.

The soap opera of who the American Idol judges took several crazy twists this week. News earlier in the week reported that Fox was after Jessica Simpson to be a regular judge. That was nothing compared to the fire storm that hit Thursday. Fox announced that both Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi would not be coming back. Rumored in the open seats are Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler and singer/actress Jennifer Lopez.

I am not an American Idol watcher, but I did catch the show in passing last season. I can’t imagine that the news of Ellen DeGeneres leaving the show can be anything but good news for Idol fans. In the little amount of time that I watched the American Idol show, I wanted to throw something at my television every time Ellen spoke. Call me crazy but I think if you are having a television show about judging music, you should have judges with some kind of a music background. I just found her critiques irritating and baseless. Not too mention, I think it was a real disservice to the contestants to have their fate in someone’s hands who knows nothing about music.

I can’t speak much on Kara DioGuardi. She had the background so whether you agree or not with what she said, you have to respect her opinion. The only thing I noticed in the few times I watched the show was how she tried to takeover American ..read more

Horror icon Tom Holland talks Lisa McClowry video, movies, and more

Tom HollandHide the women and children because Tom Holland has invaded music video! Horror writer, director, and actor Tom Holland makes his music video directorial debut with the Lisa McClowry Born Twice music video. Holland teams up with David Chackler to turn Born Twice into Vampire’s Dance and bring the fear, fun, and insanity of horror to music video.

Tom Holland is a horror movie icon having written and directed a number of horror classics. Child’s Play, Psycho 2, Fatal Beauty, and Fright Night are just two iconic horror films in the Tom Holland filmography. Tom Holland will be returning to acting in the upcoming movie, Hatchet 2 but not before joining the Video Detective Blog for an exclusive chat.

Video Detective: How did you get involved with Lisa McClowry?

Tom Holland – David Chackler. David Chackler had been my music supervisor on and off for a long time, as far back as Fright Night. He also did Fatal Beauty and Child’s Play with me. David and I were talking about the explosion of interest in vampires and I said no thinking much about it, “how much fun would it be to do dancing vampires.” Just the idea made me giggle. It just seemed like great fun and it integrated into today’s club scene which is all around me, they have redone Hollywood and Vine. The club we ended up using is Josephs, which is a block away and is part of that. So all the sudden David came to me with Lisa and Jimmy Peterik. I told them what I wanted to do, they didn’t quite get it, so I wrote up a 10-page narrative short based around the club ..read more

Rihanna will star in Battleship

RihannaForget about local theater and school plays, if you want to get into movies become a pop music star. Pop singer Rihanna will be the next pop artist to jump into the movie world. It has been confirmed that Rihanna will make her feature film in debut in the movie Battleship.

There has been some buzz about Battleship over the last few weeks. Battleship will be a movie adaption from the Hasbro game most of us played when we were kids. Battleship is scheduled to dock in movie theaters May 18, 2012. Peter Berg will be directing Battleship.

Taylor Kitsch, Jesse Plemons, and Alexander Skarsgard will accompany Rihanna in Battleship. Unless Universal signs a heavy hitter to jump on board, there will be a lot of pressure on Rihanna to carry the star-power on the cast. That may be a bit too much to ask of someone on her first feature film. Rihanna did have a small part in Bring It On: All or Nothing.

Add Battleship to the stacked list of movies scheduled for the summer 2012 movie season. Batman 3, G.I. Joe 2, and Spider-man 4 will do their best to sink Battleship. 2012 is shaping up to be arguably the biggest summer movie season in box office history.
